FUTA ALUMNI ASSOCIATION WORLDWIDE

Delta Force Is Back!

The Delta State Branch of the FUTA Alumni Association Worldwide made a striking impression at the 3rd Edition of the FUTA Alumni Sports Festival, punctuating their presence with a generous donation of two split air conditioning units to FUTA Radio.

As one of the oldest and most consistently active branches—having convened over two hundred and ninety meetings since its inception—the Delta State Branch has long been a formidable presence in the annals of the Association. In recent years, however, its engagement had waned, owing largely to certain constitutional constraints. With the recent review and the more inclusive framework it now affords, the branch has reasserted its visibility and vigour within the parent body.

This renewed spirit was unmistakable at the just-concluded Sports Festival, where the branch demonstrated its commitment through a handsome material contribution to the university. While presenting the gift, the Branch Chairman, Mr Eric Ikwuoma, accompanied by the Branch Secretary, Mr Osarodion Osunbor, expressed the branch’s delight at the refreshed vision and leadership of the Association under the stewardship of the Global President, Mr Billy IbuJE—himself a proud son of the Delta Branch.

He noted that the branch had readily aligned with the President’s vision when the needs of the radio station were brought to their attention. “The swift response, despite the short notice, is a clear testament to the branch’s satisfaction with the direction of the Global Executive Council,” he remarked.

In his response, the Global President thanked the Delta State Branch for their kind gesture and seized the opportunity to encourage other branches to follow suit. He reaffirmed his commitment to galvanising more FUTARIANS into giving back to their alma mater, stressing that such collective efforts are vital to preserving the legacy and upholding the standards of the university.

The Chairman of FUTA Radio, Professor T. M. Obamuyi, who received the donation, was visibly elated. He underscored the considerable difficulty the station would have faced in securing such items through repeated official requests to the university management. His appreciation was effusive, and he urged the station manager to sustain the momentum in consistently uplifting the radio station.

In her response, the station manager assured the Chairman that she would not relent in her pursuit of excellence in service delivery. She also noted that the station had cultivated a cordial and mutually beneficial relationship with the Alumni body.

The event was graced by other members of the Global Executive Council and the Central Working Committee, adding to the significance of the occasion.

We trust that the formidable force for which the Delta State Branch has long been renowned has well and truly returned—and we look forward to even greater contributions from the men of the oil city!
